Due to the current state of affairs, in-person live therapeutic music is on hold in many healthcare facilities. This is an unfortunate situation, as many patients, visitors, and staff are in special need of complementary healing services.
While this modality is ideally provided live and in-person, I also offer my services in virtual format to reach those in the greatest need.
These sessions make wonderful gifts to friends and relatives who are dealing with compromised immune systems, live outside of the Portland Metro area, or who otherwise are unable to attend live sessions.
This group meets once a week to learn the "Big Six" Arabic rhythms. Each month, the series will renew, and feature additional rhythms, as well as many techniques and skills on traditional & modern Middle Eastern drums. The class is suited for beginners and beyond, and is paced for the group's needs. Private lessons are available.
I utilize an intuitive technique: "If you can say it, you can play it!"

This unique sonic experience is an opportunity to heal, relax, and recenter, all while allowing the sounds of selected gongs to wash over you. During the meditation, you are invited to utilize the yoga mats, bolsters, and blankets on hand. You may also bring what you need to be most comfortable. The session lasts about 40 minutes, and is followed by a short reflection period, where you may share your experience, and/or enjoy hot herbal tisanes.

“Sound is the force of creation, the true whole. Music then, becomes the voice of the great cosmic oneness and therefore the optimal way to reach this final state of healing.”

Using the intrinsic qualities of live music, and supporting the immediate needs of the patient with mindful and compassionate presence, I create an environment conducive to healing.
Healing is not to be confused with curing, which is simply the removal of symptoms. Healing involves a holistic approach, addressing the person at the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual levels to effect balance.
I provide this healing service with a melodic percussion instrument called handpan, playing live therapeutic music by adapting melody, rhythm, and harmony in accordance to my observations of each patient.
